Reading’s pre-season continued on Tuesday night with a comfortable 4-0 win over Newport County in south Wales.
In what had been a somewhat disjointed schedule, with fixtures against non-league Farnborough and Woking separated with a trip to Spain to take on a Getafe side preparing for Europe, the Royals proved against the League Two outfit that things are starting to click.
Any pre-season result must be taken with a pinch of salt, but Jacob Brown adding his second in as many games, a first goal in Royals colours for Josh Stokes, and two for emerging talent Jerae Jones amid a whole host of positive displays from academy players is excellent news for anyone with blue & white connections.
