The 2026/27 League One season finally gets underway this Saturday lunchtime, when Reading welcome Luton Town to the Select Car Leasing Stadium.

After an EFL Cup win over Bromley whetted the appetite, fans and players alike are eager to get underway a campaign where predictions regarding Reading’s final position in the table are varying wildly.

One player who could well be looking forward to the visit of Luton more than most is new signing Jacob Brown. Following a loan at Portsmouth last season, Brown joined Reading from the Hatters after what was a largely disappointing spell at Kenilworth Road.
