On Saturday, the new EFL League One season began with Reading not only repeating the worst of habits from the previous campaign, but unlocking a new one.
Not only are Reading still throwing away leads, as they did so spectacularly against Luton Town, losing 4-3 having been 3-1 up at the break, but they now appear to be conceding goals at the start of each half. The Royals were on the attack from the opening seconds against their visitors, yet still fell behind the first time Luton applied any pressure in the sixth minute. Then, a 50th-minute concession to Kasey Palmer kick-started the Luton turnaround.
